Have you ever seen a Smog-Eating Mural?
We’re committed to striving for a brighter future, so to celebrate World Environment Day, we’ve partnered with Graphenstone Paint (link to https://graphenstone.com.au/ ) and artist Shannon Lamden to paint an incredible ‘smog-eating’ mural. The mural will feature paint that cleans the air by absorbing CO2 (just like planting a tree!).
About Shannon
Hey! Nice Murals is a female-led business that enhances everyday life through colour, transforming spaces, indoors and out - big and small, for all to enjoy. Coming to life in 2020, Hey! Nice Murals was created by Shannon Lamden off the backbone of 20 years in the design industry - bringing together her vast experience in graphic design, illustration and pattern making with her love of painting. As a commercial artist, her style is varied + ever-changing, using her experience, versatility + adaptability to ensure the clients' and community's vision is represented. Much like fabric design, graphic design and the illustration work she has done in the past as a freelance designer - creating murals designs for indoor + outdoor spaces comes very naturally. Hey! Nice Murals is all about turning a simple wall into a piece of art that you will love. Every mural painted is designed to bring life and happiness back into our day through shape and colour, creating an emotional connection to the four walls around you.
How does the paint work?
Calcium, water and carbon dioxide (CO2) react or “carbonate.” This reaction turns the calcium hydroxide into calcium carbonate, otherwise known as lime stone, ultimately locking in atmospheric carbon dioxide. Once this reaction has taken place, the captured CO2 cannot be released back into the environment. Find out more about the paint here.
Colour Palette
We’ve even designed our own range of environmental themed colours, which will be used to paint the mural;
Ocean (Dark Blue) - 'Bright Futures: Blue Reef'
Sun (Yellow) - 'Bright Futures: Solar Yellow’
Nature (Bright Pink) - 'Bright Futures: Bright Pink Gallah'
Air (Light Blue) - 'Bright Futures: Baby Blue Zephyr'
Trees (Dark Green) - 'Bright Futures: Gum Tree Green'
Flowers (Baby Pink) - 'Bright Futures: Baby Pink Petal'
